  • RCT and Windows XP

Well im not going to go on about why the problem is why it is. Im just going to explain how to fix it. So please follow these steps to ensure your game works on Windows XP.

Installing

Install the original RollerCoaster Tycoon on full.

If you have no further add-ons then install the latest patch and go straight to Setting Compatibility.

Install AA/CF on full. (if you have Loopy Landscapes then skip this bit)

If you have no further add-ons then install the latest patch and go straight to Setting Compatibility.

Install Loopy Landscapes on full.

Install the latest patch and go straight to Setting Compatibility.

Setting Compatibility

First you must try your game too see if it works after you installed the latest patch.

If it does then good for you, if it doesnt READ ON.

Go to the RollerCoaster Tycoon Directory: (C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\RollerCoaster Tycoon)

Right click on RCT.exe and choose Properties. Then select the Compatability tab and check "run this program in compatability mode for" then select "Windows 98/Windows ME"

Then click apply and run RollerCoaster Tycoon. Your game should now work.

  • Transfering Scenario Progress

If you dont have Added Attractions/Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes. Then READ.

Save the file *"SC.IDX" to a floppy or copy the file to another area in you hard drive.

You can find the file in your RollerCoaster Tycoon *Scenarios Directory

*(C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\Rollercoaster Tycoon\Scenarios)

Re-install RollerCoaster Tycoon, then install it on your new pc and install the patches that you previously had. start the game.

Rename the *SC.IDX that has been created in the scenarios directory on your hard disk.

Set the time on you sytem too: 20 December 1998

Copy the *SC.IDX that you made on your other computer,.into the scenarios directory.

Start the game up your scenario progress should be there, then re-set the system time back to normal.

(For Loopy Landspaces and Added Attractions/Corkscrew Follies is the same BUT the file name and the directory were it is stored is different. For all the the insturctions above that have * change them to the relevent things which are: CSS0.DAT and C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\Rollercoaster Tycoon\Data and Data Directory)

if you are still haveing problems please email me
