What is the “Drexler” Patch?
The “Drexler” Patch was made by Josef Drexler, hence the name “Drexler Patch”. He didn’t actually name the patch “Drexler” it is actually just call “RCTPatch”. He made it to enable the use of trainers for add-ons in RollerCoaster Tycoon. Otherwise it is impossible to load a saved game in which a trainer was used.

Why should I use the “Drexler” patch?
You should use the “Drexler” patch in one of these 3 cases:
1. If you get an “Invalid Data” message when you load a saved game. The “Drexler” Patch removes those error messages and it will let you load any saved game.
2. If you want to replace your ride music with your own music. (see add custom ride music)
3. If you designed a rollercoaster outside the “norm” that RCT will allow. Example: Launch Mode on non-launch able coasters.

What the “Drexler” Patch Does.
As stated above, the “Drexler” patch will remove “Invalid data” error messages. It allows you to replace the default ride music with your own custom music, and it will allow you to create rides out of the “norm”. It will also allow you to load all saved games, even those in which a trainer was used. You can load any game even if you don’t have access to that scenario yet. It will also work for any of the add-ons in any language. You can also modify coasters (with a trainer).What it will NOT do is allow you to play pirated versions of RCT or its expansions.

What versions will the “Drexler” patch work on?
The “Drexler” patch will work on any of the following versions, for any language:
- 1.10.016 (unpatched AA/CF)
- 1.10.019 (first official patch for AA/CF)
- 1.10.021 (second official patch for AA/CF)
- 1.10.026 (third official patch for AA/CF)
- 1.20.001 (LL distributed by OziSoft in Australia)
- 1.20.012 (unpatched LL)
- 1.20.013 (first official patch for LL, the Win2K patch)
Note: AA/CF is Added Attractions or Corkscrew Follies and LL is Loopy Landscapes
It does not work with the newer release of RCT, with the anti-cheat code.

Where can I get the “Drexler” patch?
You can get the “Drexler” patch at http://www.strategyplanet.com/rctuk/rctpatch/. There you can either download the .exe file or you can download the .zip file. The .zip file also comes with text copies of the page stated above and a copy of their cheat page. But you will need WinZip or some other kind of Zip program to open it. They even have some alternative links incase the main download links don’t work.

How to use the “Drexler” patch.
There are 5 steps to using the “Drexler” patch.
1. If RCT is running Exit it first.
2. First back up your RCT.exe file, by right clicking on the file once and select copy and then paste it somewhere where you will remember where it is.
3. Then double click on the RCTPatch .exe file. First it will find your installed RCT files and then it will ask you if you want to continue with the patch, answer “yes”. After a short period of time it will give you a status report. (It doesn’t hurt to run it twice.)
4. If everything went well it will say “Patch was successful”, then try running RCT again, and try to load your saved game.
5. You should now be able to load all saved games in which a trainer was used.
If you want to keep both the patched version of the game and the unpatched version of the game simply follow these instructions:
1. Make a copy of the unpatched RCT.exe file.
2. Using the explorer window, drag it onto RCTPATCH.exe.
3. Now the “Drexler” patch will patch this copy and not the original version.

Add Custom Ride Music.
To make your own ride music you must follow these guidelines:
1. First either record or convert your music to a .wav file format and it must have these properties: PCM format, Stereo 22,050 Hz, 8 bit. Make sure it is shorter in duration than the song you want to replace.
2. Choose a song to to replace. These are the files: css#.dat, where the # symbolizes a number greater than 1.
3. Make a Backup of the file you are going to replace.
4. Copy the new .wav file into the RCT Data directory and name it the same as the file you want to replace. Make sure it gets the .dat file extension.
Note: if you have LL, you can also name it either custom1.wav or custom2.wav to add to the additional music options, without replacing any of the existing music.
5. Then try it out!

Some F.A.Q.s on the “Drexler” patch.
The official patches won’t install.
A. If you want to install any of the official patches or updates you must first uninstall the RCT patch, because they official updates and patches will only work on un-modified versions of RCT.

RCT Patch says “Unable to open RCT.exe”
A. This means that you are most likely running RCT in the background, just close out RCT and try it again. If that doesn’t work the RCT.exe file might be set to read only and in that case you’ll need to right click on the file and go to properties and make it a writeable file.

After playing for about 30 seconds, RCT quits and the message “Data File Corrupted or Inaccessible”.
A. The message isn’t actually caused by RCT patch but is a result of using a trainer and RCT notices this you can fix this by using the TRG Swiss Army Knife.

How to uninstall the “Drexler” patch.
If you have LL and the latest version of RCT patch, it’s easy to uninstall, all you have to do is give it the command line option “/u”. To do this, go to your start menu and select “Run” and enter the path where RCTPatch is installed followed by “/u” an example is:
C:\windows\program files\Hasbro interactive\rct\rctpatch /u
